Mint Lemon Limeade

Simply superb summertime cooler. The lemon and lime with crushed fresh mint leaves indeed a refreshing combo to soothe the summer heat. Healthier option for all those canned or carbonated drinks that we always grab to chill down. I'm a water babe and i love to pile up on my daily water intake but, sometimes i get tired of plain water. Occasionally, i do drop few slices of lemon into my plain water yet, i'm craving for more.

With my fridge wide open, i found beautiful yellow lemons, vibrant green lime and fresh mint leaves. Decided to put them all into making a refreshing drink, i started my mint lemon limeade project. Instead of settling for a simple sugar syrup i added crushed cardamom pods to enhance the flavor. Cardamom is such a versatile indian spice which is great into making sweet and savoury dishes and even drinks. I salt the rim of the serving glass for that extra kick. If this combination of refreshing lemon, lime and mint leaves concoction doesn't beat the heat i don't know what will.

Ingredients

3 limes, sliced
4 lemons, sliced
6 cups water
Handful fresh mint leaves
1 tsp sea salt
Extra salt for rim

For Sugar Syrup

3/4 cup white sugar
1 cup water
2 cardamom pods,crushed

Methods

In a pot, combine sugar, water and crushed cardamom pods. Stir till sugar completely dissolved. Keep aside to cool

Using a wooden spoon, gently mash the mint leaves with 1 tsp of salt

Extract juice of limes and lemons and strain the juice to discard the seeds.

In a tall pitcher, combine the mashed mint leaves, strained juice and prepared sugar syrup. Add cold water and stir well

Salt the rim of a serving glass, and pour the juice over ice and serve
